Dos and Don'ts


  • Respect laws and regulation of the country will make your visit a successful and trouble-free one
  • Starting from 01 July 2016 wearing "Burqa/ Niqab"  in public will be banned in the Italian speaking Canton of Tecino in the south of Switzerland and will be finable from CHF 100 to  CHF 1000.
  • Be careful NOT to carry other people’s identity paper with you, including the wife’s, as you might risk the charge of possession of or stealing others’ identity documents. This applies to all your family members, your employees or others except for underage children.
  • under any circumstances whatsoever shall your identity document be deposed as collateral for loan.
  • Do not place identity documents and valuables in bags that can easily be stolen. It is recommended that you  place your identity documents at the hotel’s central safe.
  • Do not carry with you large amount of money, use credit cards instead for payments.
  • Always, When entering your PIN code, carefully block other people’s view of the keypad, covering it with your free hand.
  • If your card is lost or stolen, report it immediately,
  • Upon returning home, verify the balance and charges on your debit and credit cards
  • Being  aware of the cultural differences can make you avoid many misunderstanding;
  • Avoid treating children harshly or excessively kissing them in public places;
  • Avoid all behaviour which may be interpreted as sexual harassment or offence
  • Try not to use bags that others can easily see or reach into, and keep bags close to your body with a tight grip at all times. Do Not leave your luggage unattended;
  • Do not leave wallets or purses in the car, or if you must, do not leave them exposed or in an obvious place.
  • Put your valuable belongings in your pockets Not in purses which are usually prone to theft.
  • If you are using your mobile publically, keep good attention to your surroundings.
  • You exercise extra caution at places like Airports, train stations and  crowded touristic sites, most reported thefts  occur in these places, especially while you are busy buying tickets or doing check-in or enjoying your drink in coffee shops.
  • Pick-pockets sometimes dress like businessmen. You should not be lulled into a false sense of security by believing that well-dressed individuals are not potential pick-pockets or thieves.
  • Do not put handbags and purses on chairs or on top of  luggage 
  • Always check the bills while shopping or at a restaurants
  • If you fall under any aggression, you MUST immediately contact the embassy on +410313137209 and ask the operator  to talk to the Consular to get the necessary help.
  • At the airport, please allow enough time for the export validation process before your flight departs if you need to refund the VAT.
  • Refer to known real estate agencies if you should rent an apartment and read carefully the renting contract.
